From the 30 October – 1 November head to Cardigan to enjoy some fabulous musical talent in a beautiful setting at the Other Voices festival.
Other Voices Cardigan first started in 2019. An extension of the original Other Voices festival held in Dingle, Ireland it was launched to strengthen ties between the Celtic communities of Wales and Ireland. The festival is supported by the Welsh and Irish governments and celebrates live music, art and culture in historic venues.
Each year the festival showcases the diversity of music from Wales, Ireland and beyond, with both established artists and emerging talent from a range of genres performing live.
As always, the Church of St Mary’s in Cardigan is the main venue for the headline acts, with additional performances held in various bars, cafes and theatres in the town. The performances are also broadcast live to screens in and around the area, enabling the whole community to discover and enjoy the acts.
Cardigan Bay Properties is proud to be a sponsor of the 2025 event. Tickets for the three-day programme cost just £65, although for under 18s the price is £15, making it an affordable way to discover some incredible music from Wales and beyond, all in a beautiful setting.
The festival has grown a lot since it started and this year there will be over 100 musical performances, as well as thought-provoking conversations to inspire all ages of music lovers. Visitors come from not just the local community but also from across the UK and internationally, with Theatr Mwldan a key organiser of the event.
Musical acts this year include Ireland’s much-loved Ye Vagabonds, who manage to weave beautiful folk melodies with rich harmonies – an approach that has seen them win six RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.
Welsh talent is also at the fore, with a performance from Gruff Rhys, who celebrates the Welsh language with his album Dim Probs; as well as Cardiff’s indie-punk band Panic Shack and Welsh eccentrics Melin Melyn, who deliver a colourful blend of psychedelic pop and playful storytelling.
From Ireland you can enjoy Dublin’s KhakiKid, whose jazz-tinged, offbeat hip-hop carries both humour and heart; while London five-piece Sorry, fuses rock’n’roll traditions with the rearranged codes of the digital age; and South West London’s Master Peace, the Ivor Novello Rising Star Award winner, whose genre-blending performances combine the pulse of indie with the energy of rap.
