With everything from demonstrations and workshops to live music and children’s activities, the Craft Festival Wales is taking place this weekend.
What is the Craft Festival?
The Craft Festivals are multi-award winning events designed to bring together some of the best makers, passionate audiences and unforgettable experiences, all taking place in our beautiful local town of Cardigan, or in Bovey Tracey in Devon.
They combine the chance to discover beautiful handmade work, view inspiring demonstrations, and enjoy fascinating talks, workshops, live music, children’s crafts and more, making them a wonderful day – or weekend – out for all ages.
Who’s taking part?
There are some incredible creative craft specialists taking part in this year’s Welsh event. For example, Heritage Crafts will be back, bringing makers dedicated to keeping rare skills alive. Meet drystone waller Barney Murray, enameller and polisher Isabella Ossett, Samantha Jones Quiltmaker and milliner Wade-Evans Design.
And that’s just the start, there are so many other talented people happy to chat about their crafts and inspire you. There will be some wonderful potters and ceramicists taking part, as well as makers who work with textile and leather to create clothing, accessories, homeware and craft objects. Whatever your interest, we think you’ll love exploring this festival.
How much does it cost?
Adult tickets cost £9 per day, or you can get a three day weekend ticket for £17 – so if you can visit for more than one day, then the three day ticket offers great value. Accompanied under 18s and carers go free. Most of the talks are free to enter, while workshops do have an additional charge, for example Creative Papermaking with Sarah Holloway costs £32, while the Silver Wire Jewellery workshop with Rose Teleri costs £40.
Where is it taking place?
The location for this great event couldn’t be better – it’s hosted at Cardigan Castle in the lovely historic market town of Cardigan.
There’s a free Park & Ride service from Cardigan Show Ground on the A487. Buses run from 9.30am until 5.30pm, with the last bus scheduled to leave Cardigan Castle at 5.15pm. The service is wheelchair friendly. It’s worth noting that only service dogs will be permitted inside Cardigan Castle.
When is it happening?
If you’re keen to discover this fabulous festival then it starts from 10am on Friday 11 September and runs through to 5pm on Sunday 13 September. Maybe we’ll see you there!
