Festival of Light and Giant Lantern Parade

This year Cardigan’s Festival of Light Trail will take place from 29 November 2025 until 2 January 2026 from 4 – 9pm. Organised by Small World Theatre, the trail for 2025 has more lights, illuminated artworks and there will be a Giant Lantern Parade on Friday 5 December.

The Giant Lantern Parade is set to be one of the highlights in the run up to the festive season, with river Teifi themed giant lantern sculptures being paraded through town. There will also be popular local musicians Samba Doc and the Cardigan African Drummers providing musical entertainment to add to the festive atmosphere.

The parade is scheduled to leave Pendre at 7pm, and will walk along Cardigan High Street to the Quayside where there will be low noise fireworks and the Festival of Light Trail illuminations. Spectators can also enjoy a fire juggling display as well as food and drink supplied by Kitchen 1176 at the Quayside.

Siobhan McGovern of Small World Theatre said: “We are delighted to announce that Cardigan’s Castle is part of the Light Trail and its illuminations will be visible from the Quayside during the Parade. We also have a few extra surprises that we are sure to delight all!”

The events are made possible thanks to financial support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the Cynnal y Cardi Community Fund, administrated by the Cynnal y Cardi team on behalf of Ceredigion County Council, with additional support from Cardigan Town Council.

It’s set to be a great event, so why not head down and enjoy the parade and Christmas illuminations?
